House Rent Allowance Declaration

According ROPA-2019, the House Rant Allowance (H.R.A) admissible to employees shall be 12% of his/her revised Basic Pay or Pay Matrix with effect from 1st January 2020,  subject to maximum of Rs. 12,000/- (Rupees Twelve thousand only) per month. The celling of House Rant Allowance (H.R.A) drawn by Husband and Wife together shall be raised to Rs.12,000 /- per month. The existing term and condition for drawing House Rant Allowance shall continue to apply.

If a State Government employee whose Spouse (Husband / Wife) is working in a private Institution or State Government / Sponsored/ Aided Educational Institution /Board /Corporation/ Statutory Body/ Autonomous Body /Other agencies or other Instrumentalities of the State which is/are wholly or substantially owned and /or controlled by the Government, where House Rant Allowance (H.R.A) is allowed as a separate element, the House Rant Allowance (H.R.A) of the spouse (Husband / Wife) shall be taken into account, then the upper limit of  total House Rant Allowance (H.R.A) shall not be exceed Rs. 12,000 /- (Rupees Twelve thousand only).

The undersigned is directed by order of the Governor to say, that in conformity with the Finance Department's Memo No. 8012-F(P2) dated 27.12.2018, read with Memo No. 5839-F(P) dated 09.07.2012, the matter of granting H.R.A to an employee of a Sponsored/ Aided Educational Institution, whose spouse is working in a private organisation, where H.R.A is allowed as a separate element, H.R.A of the spouse shall be taken into account, as done in the case, where spouse is the employee of any Government or Semi-Government Organisation.

All concerned are being informed accordingly.
